Liturgical notes
A main element of the Eucharistic prayer is the acclamation,
in which the whole congregation, joining with the heavenly powers, sings the Sanctus [Holy, Holy, Holy]. This acclamation, which is part of the Eucharistic Prayer itself, is sung or said by all the people with the priest.

Across all the diverse Christian churches, there has been the consistent practice of singing the ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’, given to us in the Book of Isaiah, during the eucharistic celebration. The one voice of the presider and the assembly is never replaced by the voice of the choir alone; all are called to join with the heavenly host in singing the praise of God. With their acclamation, the holy people of God take their rightful place in the eucharistic prayer.
