Christ is present in his words, since it is he himself who speaks when the Holy Scriptures are read. We pray that his words will remain in us as we offer these prayers.

We pray for Pope Leo, our bishops and priests. In their ministry, in breaking open God’s word, may they be led by the Holy Spirit.

We pray for understanding between nations. May hatred be laid to rest and wars ended, and may all the earth enjoy prosperity and peace.

We pray for all women and men who ‘labour in God’s vineyard’. May their selfless efforts bear much fruit for God’s kingdom.

We pray for our faith community. May our outreach and welcome to all those in need bear witness that we are celebrating the words of Jesus.

As we pause to commemorate ANZAC Day today, we pray for the people of our world who are victims of war or social unrest.

We pray for the sick of the parish, for our sick relatives and friends, and for those who have no one to pray for them.
We commend to your love those who have died recently and those whose anniversaries occur at this time. May the fullness of peace be theirs in eternal life.

God of love, receive these petitions from us, your people. Help us always to live as your children. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
