Jesus gives the gift of peace, a peace the world cannot give. We pray that God’s peace may fill the world and bring it to wholeness.

Reader

We pray for Pope Francis and the bishops as successors of the apostles. May they be guided in their leadership by the Spirit that Jesus promised to send, reminding us of all he taught.

Lord, hear us.
Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for leadership at every level. May the promise of the presence of the Spirit encourage all cultures to be open and to share with one another.

Lord, hear us.
Lord, hear our prayer.

As we now begin National Reconciliation Week, we pray that we will move forward in creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Lord, hear us.
Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the families and friends of all those who have lost their lives during the pandemic, and especially for those who were unable to be with their loved ones as they died, or who have been unable to gather in person at funerals because of COVID restrictions. May our God of grace and compassion be close to them in their grief, and may they find meaningful ways to remember and honour the lives of those they have lost.

Lord, hear us.
Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for …

Lord hear us.
Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for the sick of our parish and for all who have asked for our prayers.
We pray for those whose anniversaries we remember at this time and all those who have died recently. We pray especially today, across our Archdiocese, for all those who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic. May they know fullness of eternal life in God’s kingdom.

Lord, hear us.
Lord, hear our prayer.

Gracious God, mindful of the Holy Spirit, who teaches us everything your Son has told us, we ask that our prayers reflect the Spirit of our Saviour and Teacher, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
